Theatertreffen 2024
The 61st Theatertreffen will take place from 2 to 19 May 2024. The 10 remarkable productions from German-speaking countries selected by a jury of critics will be staged in Berlin.
Festival director Nora Hertlein-Hull on the 10 remarkable productions 2024:
"The 2024 selection shows the richness of the theatre scene in German-speaking countries. The productions include classics as well as new texts and genre-breaking formats. We will experience strong aesthetic settings and immerse ourselves in wonderfully polished language. We will see rousing ensemble works and welcome great acting stars. In short: I am looking forward to a polyphonic, multi-faceted and enjoyable Theatertreffen 2024!"
Theatertreffen 2024 Programme Schedule
Every year the Theatertreffen award is given to the invited ensembles from the 10 selection.
The festival center is traditionally the Berlin Festival House. The event is an innovative meeting place for theater makers and interested parties from all over the world, a networking and discourse platform and an open space for the theater arts.
The Theatertreffen has brought remarkable productions from German-speaking countries as well as works by young artists from around the world to Berlin every May since 1964.
What themes, aesthetics and focal points characterize the theater? Together with artists, scientists, journalists and the audience, the festival takes a look at the status quo and the future.
At the International Forum, young international artists come together as part of the scholarship program to look at art together and work on the future of theater.
