The statements in this declaration were last reviewed on 21 January 2026.
An external expert opinion was commissioned to check the technical accessibility of the website.
How accessible is this service?
This website is only partially accessible. It partially fulfils the requirements stipulated in BITV 2.0.
Which areas are not barrier-free?
The areas listed below are not accessible for the following reasons:
Unreasonably high level of effort
The sub-sections listed below currently require significant personnel, technical and organisational resources to implement accessibility and may constitute a disproportionate burden in accordance with Section 4 (3) BITG Bln. Work on implementation and improving accessibility is ongoing. In particular, accessibility is taken into account during planning, development, tendering and procurement processes for extensions and revisions.
Sub-sections that are not accessible due to disproportionate burden (BIKTG Bln §4 paragraph 3):
Sub-section: Videos
a) Description
Some videos embedded on the website currently lack subtitles and audio transcripts.
b) Explanation of why this constitutes a disproportionate burden
A complete audio description is unfortunately not available. Revising the audio descriptions for all older videos would involve a disproportionately high level of effort.c) Accessible alternative
If the video is opened and played directly on youtube.com, subtitles and transcripts can be displayed.
- Sub-section: PDF documents
a) The complete accessible revision of all existing PDF documents is currently not fully possible due to the large number of documents already published and represents a disproportionate burden. All new PDF documents are created in an accessible format.
Sub-section: Provider-generated content in the Berlin Convention Finder
a) Description
Some of the content on this website is independently created and maintained by registered Berlin event and tourism providers within the Berlin Convention Finder. This includes in particular:
• Images and media content
• Documents available for download
This content is uploaded via a self-service backend by the respective providers. The content design is the responsibility of the respective providers. visitBerlin provides the technical platform for data entry and strives to offer accessible input options as well as guidance on creating accessible content.b) Explanation of why this constitutes a disproportionate burden
A full review or editorial revision of all third-party content cannot be guaranteed due to the large volume and the continuous updating of this content. Retrospectively making all externally created content accessible would currently require a disproportionately high level of organisational and personnel resources and is therefore considered a disproportionate burden.c) Accessible alternatives
visitBerlin is continuously working to raise awareness among providers regarding accessible content and to provide appropriate guidance and recommendations for creating accessible content.
Not applicable
These contents do not fall within the scope of the Accessible ICT Act Berlin.
Exceptions that do not need to be accessible (based on BIKTG Bln, Section 4 paragraph 4):
- Content: PDF documents
a) Description
PDF documents published before 23 September 2020 - Content: Third-party content
a) Description
Third-party content that is neither financed nor developed by Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, nor under its control. This includes, in particular, content independently created and maintained by external providers within the Berlin Convention Finder.
