Berlin, 9 June 2026 Berlin will host the annual congress of the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) from 9 to 12 June 2027. The international specialist event is one of the world’s most important congresses in the field of rheumatology and will bring around 14,000 specialist participants to the capital.
The multi-day congress will take place on the Messe Berlin exhibition grounds and bring together international experts from research, clinical practice and healthcare. As a renowned forum, it promotes global exchange between doctors, scientists, people with arthritis and rheumatism, healthcare professionals and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry. This year’s EULAR Congress concluded in London on the first weekend in June; Berlin was announced there as the next host destination.
“Once again, through a joint effort with Messe Berlin, we have succeeded in bringing one of Europe’s major conferences to Berlin. This demonstrates our market leadership in the field of medical conferences and generates significant value for the visitor economy,” says Burkhard Kieker, CEO of visitBerlin.
Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin: “The award of the 2027 EULAR Congress demonstrates just how sought-after Berlin is as a venue for international conferences and meetings, particularly in the healthcare sector. Such successes encourage us to continue systematically developing our infrastructure. With the new dock9 convention center, we are expanding the offerings at the exhibition grounds with much-needed capacity and creating optimal conditions for the congresses of tomorrow.”
The successful acquisition of EULAR by visitBerlin’s Berlin Convention Office together with Messe Berlin strengthens Berlin’s position as a leading congress metropolis and a destination for medical and scientific events. EULAR was previously held in Berlin in 2012, attracting around 12,000 participants. Hosting the congress next year will generate important economic momentum for the hotel industry, restaurants, mobility providers and event services, while also increasing Berlin’s international visibility as a centre for health and innovation.
The EULAR 2027 programme will feature more than 200 sessions, including scientific presentations, workshops, continuing education opportunities, networking formats and a large specialist exhibition. The focus will be on current developments in the research, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases, as well as new approaches to patient care. In 2027, EULAR will also celebrate the association’s 80th anniversary; its President is Prof Dr Xenofon Baraliakos from North Rhine-Westphalia.
In addition to EULAR, numerous other specialist medical events are on Berlin’s congress calendar. These include the World Health Summit, the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery, Neurowoche with the Congress of the German Society of Neurology and the Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neuropathology and Neuroanatomy, as well as the EHC26 European Headache Congress in 2026. Events planned for 2027 include the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology Conference (WAAVP) and the Congress of Ophthalmologists of the German Ophthalmological Society.
