"Greener Fête de la Musique"

The cultural sector has a special significance in the socio-ecological transformation and the achievement of climate targets due to its great appeal.
Greener Fête takes this responsibility seriously and positions itself in favour of sustainable, climate-conscious organisation of music events.

The Fête de la Musique - a success story

On the initiative of the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, the Fête de la Musique was held for the first time in Paris in 1982. The basic idea is to strengthen people's enthusiasm for music and at the same time to welcome the summer musically and accessible to all free of charge. The popular festival quickly spreads beyond the country's borders and also reaches Berlin in 1995, where it has since become one of the most popular events in the city's calendar of events.

In addition to the many recurring locations, new stages are added each year. The metropolitan areas with a particularly large number of venues include, for example, the old town of Spandau, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg or even Unter den Linden.

Since 2018, there has been an annually changing partner district, which is particularly in the focus of the events.

But the program is by no means limited to the official participants - in all public places, streets or even green spaces, spontaneous street music may be made thanks to an exemption permit.

The opportunity is also gladly used by many amateur musicians, who celebrate the most diverse musical styles on the most diverse instruments.

Numerous locations direct their offer especially to families with children, who are invited to sing along, make music and dance.
