BER: Berlin Brandenburg Airport
Berlin's new gateway to the world - the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport "Willy Brandt" (IATA code BER) opened on October 31, 2020. We have compiled all important information for event planners* here.
General information
Terminal 1 (T1) is the largest terminal of BER with eight levels. It was opened on October 31, 2020 as the first terminal and has ten check-in islands with a total of 118 desks, 36 security lines for departing passengers and five security lines for transfer passengers. In addition, all passengers can expect a duty-free area and a wide range of restaurants, stores and service facilities.
Terminal 2 is directly connected to Terminal 1. It has its own check-in counters and security checks. Due to the slump in passenger numbers caused by the Corona Pandemic, Terminal 2 is not currently needed for the opening of BER. All flights are handled in Terminal 1 and Terminal 5. Terminal 2 (T2) is expected to open in spring 2021.
Terminal 5 (T5) is located in the northern part of BER Airport and can be easily reached from the BER train station in eight minutes by S-Bahn lines S9 and S45. Please allow an additional 10 minutes' walk from the BER train station to Terminal 5. Busses and cabs run between the terminals. A free Mobility Service is available for passengers with reduced mobility.
Please arrive at the airport in good time before departure (at least 2 hours) and always allow sufficient time for transfers between the terminals.
You want to know from which terminal your flight starts? An overview of all airlines at BER you can find here.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport transfer to the city
With its own train station "Flughafen BER - Terminal 1-2" the airport is very well connected to Berlin and the surrounding area.
Airport Express and/or regional trains run four times an hour between Berlin main station and the BER train station (T1 & T2). S-Bahn lines S 9 and S 45 leave every 20 minutes from Terminals 1, 2 and the northern Terminal 5 at the old Schönefeld Airport direction Berlin city center.
Additionally, busses such as the PlusBus Airport Region or the Airport Shuttle BER1 complete the range of services.
You can also reach the city quickly and comfortably by taxi. Taxi ranks are located in front of Terminal 1 (Level 0 for arriving passengers, Level 1 for departing passengers) and 5 (Terminal Area L). The taxi ride from Berlincity center takes about 35 minutes to Terminal 1 and about 45 minutes to Terminal 5.
