Berlin - top choice for international conventions
Berlin as an event destination
In the highly sought-after congress market , Berlin occupies a top position as an event destination worldwide: for more than ten years, the German capital has positioned itself in the top 10 for international association congresses in the ICCA ranking, making it one of the world's most important metropolises for meetings and congresses.
According to the cvent Report 2024, Berlin has also moved up two places compared to the previous year and is one of the four most popular MICE destinations in Europe. Decisive factors for the choice included the wide range of options for meetings and events, the city's atmosphere and its rich history and culture. Museums, galleries, restaurants and bars guarantee an unforgettable and varied Berlin experience.
A total of 70,535 business events (+30 per cent compared to 2022) - congresses, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, presentations and social events with a professional connection - took place in Berlin in 2023 with 7.64 million participants. There were a further 21,788 events in the areas of sport, culture and celebrations (including anniversaries, weddings and parties) with 2.37 million participants. The hotel industry is booming
Berlin is at the top of the list of popular international and national travel destinations and is one of the three most interesting cities in the world, along with New York and Cape Town, according to the ‘Time Out’ ranking. With 732 accommodation establishments (as of 2024), Berlin also offers one of the world's most modern hotel markets.
The current development of established hotels is particularly interesting here: the legendaryBristol Berlin conference hotel is reinventing itself: The first 50 newly renovated rooms are inspired by the Golden 20s in Great Britain. A spectacular new venue for overnight stays and congresses is also under construction: the Estrel Tower. From 2025, it will be the tallest hotel tower in Germany and, with more than 500 rooms and 3,800 square metres of event space, will enrich the leisure and MICE business offering in Berlin. The third largest MICE hotel in the city has also reinvented itself: The Hotel Berlin, Berlin on Lützowplatz in City West with over 700 rooms, conference and breakfast rooms has a new look after four years of renovation.
With the many new and redesigned accommodation options, Berlin is better positioned than ever for the coming event year.
