The Estrel Berlin was awarded the Leader Level of the ‘Sustainable Berlin’ sustainability certification in the latest full audit by visitBerlin. This means that the Estrel has achieved the highest level of the programme and underlines its comprehensive commitment to sustainable management in the events and hotel sector.
With the Leader Level, visitBerlin confirms that the Estrel Berlin meets particularly high standards in all areas audited. These include climate protection, waste and resource management, social responsibility and corporate governance. The Estrel Berlin pursues a long-term sustainability strategy with annual CO₂ balances and the goal of becoming climate neutral by 2045.

The Estrel Berlin achieved particularly high ratings in the ‘Society/Social’ certification area, including employee satisfaction, occupational health and safety, training and further education, and work-life balance. ‘We are proud to have made the leap to Leader Level,’ said Estrel Managing Director Ute Jacobs. ‘This is a milestone for our entire team and confirms our consistent strategy of anchoring sustainability as an integral part of our business model.’
The visitBerlin programme ‘Sustainable Berlin’ is aimed at tourism and event-related businesses in the capital. It offers a uniform, transparent certification system with several performance levels and supports companies in implementing and further developing sustainability in a measurable way.
The programme is relevant for Berlin as a conference location because it provides event planners with guidance on sustainable event planning and offers free sustainable event guidelines.
