visitBerlin launches new app

Berlin, 27 November 2025 Europe's most popular city ticket goes digital: Today, visitBerlin, the capital's destination marketing and management organisation, is launching the new Berlin Welcome Card app. This marks the first change in the design of the tourist ticket in its successful 30-year history. The new app replaces the paper guide with immediate effect.

"With the Berlin Welcome Card app, we are making visiting our city even easier and more modern: the whole diversity of this city in one app," says Burkhard Kieker, spokesman for the management of visitBerlin.

Matthias Goeze, head of sales at visitBerlin, adds: "The app combines inspiration and planning tools for visiting Berlin and, later, ticketing. The app is based on the highest technical standards."

Over 170 offers at a glance

App users can browse through more than 170 tourist attractions, sights and activities. Berlin's city ticket partners offer discounts of up to 25 percent. The Berlin Welcome Card app presents their offers clearly – with a list, map and all further details. The new digital companion for visitors to Berlin is also a source of inspiration and a planning aid: based on their interests, they receive personalised recommendations for their very special city break. And the Berlin Welcome Card app even scores points offline: once installed, it does not require permanent access to the internet.

App expansion with integrated BVG ticketing to follow in mid-January

At the turn of the year, the range of functions offered by the Berlin Welcome Card app will be expanded to include BVG ticketing. This will also make it easier for visitors to Berlin to use buses, trains and other forms of transport: the BVG code will be integrated into the app, enabling immediate mobility. And a scan function will also make it easy to redeem discounts or free admissions. A paper ticket will no longer be necessary. Tickets already purchased online or at Berlin Tourist Info offices can also be loaded into the app. If visitors to Berlin do not want to use the app, print@home tickets will continue to be offered.

One app, three city tickets

Whether it's the Berlin Welcome Card, Berlin Welcome Card all inclusive or Berlin Welcome Card Museum Island: with the expansion of the range of functions, all versions of the city ticket will then be available digitally in the app. They can be purchased and saved here.

Benchmark for digital city cards

Environmentally conscious and user-friendly: with the Berlin Welcome Card, visitBerlin sets a benchmark for digital city cards.

The Berlin Welcome Card app is available in German and English – in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Further information: berlin-welcomecard.de.
