Total revenue from events in Berlin reached around 1.4 billion Euro in 2024 – roughly in line with the previous year. While conference hotels recorded an increase in turnover, event venues and locations saw declines. Nevertheless, Berlin suppliers are cautiously optimistic: a 3.1 per cent revenue increase is forecast for 2025.
Sustainable event planning and AI in the event sector
Sustainability is a key priority for Berlin’s event sector. Around 70 per cent of suppliers in the capital already apply recognised sustainability standards such as ISO 14001, EMAS or the visitBerlin programme "Sustainable Berlin". In addition, 47 per cent of providers track their CO₂ emissions – a rate well above the national average, positioning Berlin as a frontrunner.
More and more Berlin suppliers are adopting digital solutions. 51 per cent are already using Artificial Intelligence – primarily for chatbots, participant management, translation and internal communication. However, only 22 per cent currently have an internal AI policy in place, indicating potential for further strategic development.
Looking ahead to 2025: Optimism despite cautious booking activity
Outlooks for the coming event year are mixed. 39 per cent of Berlin suppliers rate the 2025 booking situation as good or very good – lower than the national average. However, many expect rising participant numbers from Europe, China and the USA, along with growing demand for sustainable and digitally supported formats.
Conclusion: Berlin reaffirms its leadership in the MICE segment
The latest event and congress statistics from the Berlin Convention Office make it clear: Berlin remains a stable MICE destination and continues to evolve strategically – with a sharp focus on internationality, sustainability and innovation. This makes the capital an ideal location for organisers from across the globe and strengthens its standing among Europe’s top congress cities.
