A Premier European Location for Transport, Mobility and Logistics
The cluster Transport, Mobility and Logistics, embedded within the region, aims to develop, produce and internationally market key contributions to the transport systems of the future. Moreover, the capital region offers an ideal testbed to trial mobility innovations in everyday life. The VML cluster encompasses the sectors of logistics, automotive, aerospace, rail technology and transport telematics.
With the launch of the Transport, Mobility and Logistics cluster the objective is to develop and test innovative mobility solutions for the future. The Berlin‑Brandenburg testbed is particularly well suited to this purpose, as Berlin is a leading hub for all areas of the mobility sector in Europe.
For example, the Urban Tech Republic project—the innovation park on the site of the former Flughafen Berlin‑Tegel (TXL)—is researching future-oriented mobility solutions. The mobility of tomorrow will be green, efficient and safe. Innovative sharing services, multimodal passenger and freight transport, autonomous driving, Mobility Hubs and comfortable cycle paths are among the demonstrator projects at the research and industry site Urban Tech Republic. The expansion of cycle paths—which also forms part of functional transport mobility—is also being promoted.
