In order to be best prepared for future requirements in the domestic and also in the international market and to qualify further, it is important to find a decision for the system, we consider Sustainable Meetings Berlin (SMB), the ISO20121 and EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme). 

SMB is based on a comprehensive catalogue of criteria that is oriented towards recognised frameworks. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the UN are also reflected in this approach.

ISO20121 encompasses all 3 pillars of sustainability and covers economic planning, environmental protection and social issues, some of which are still critical in the industry, as well as the value/supply chain, whereby the environmental fields of action coincide with those of EMAS.

ISO is suitable for all types and sizes of organisations and events and takes into account the specifics of the creative and event industries in their diversity of challenges.

EMAS is well suited for single, annually recurring events if they focus exclusively on environmental concerns.

For the event industry with many different projects per year, on the other hand, EMAS is only suitable to a limited extent, as the large number of on-site inspections in these cases means a great deal of effort and high costs.
