art:berlin - Bike Tour Steglitz - Architectural Innovations from 200 Years

Incentive

When the Bauhaus moved its teaching activities to Berlin in 1932, teachers and students finally encountered a large city with social and economic conditions that could have been a suitable basis for their innovative endeavours. The teacher Wassily Kandinsky saw the green location of their provisionally prepared school quarters on the Teltow Canal as a "pretty area". Did it also already offer the opportunity to experience the Berliner in exchange with the general modern demands of the arts, in Steglitz of all places? We will show you how the ideas of New Building became established early on in this solid residential area and how they have remained impressively linked to Berlin's architectural history to this day, as you leisurely cycle past amazing stations along the residential row, the office, the church, the clinic, the square, the manor house, the stadium, the factory and the detached house.

Attention: Own bike necessary | Minimum number of participants 10 people

in cooperation with the Bauhaus Archive / Museum of Design
