art:berlin - Hohenschönhausen! - Middle Ages, villas, Stasi, Bauhaus and kale!

Incentive

Hohenschönhausen is mainly known for the former Stasi prison and prefabricated buildings. But the district has much more to offer, as the tour shows: from the medieval village church, one of the smallest in Berlin, we walk along the old village green and past industrial monuments to Obersee. In the existing villa colony of the imperial era, Mies van der Rohe built Haus Lemke in 1932/33, a jewel of the Bauhaus school. An architectural monument of the same period is the Hippopotamus Settlement, which has been renovated in keeping with its status as a listed building. In GDR times, the GDR State Security, which not only maintained a prison here, left its mark on the district.

A district with so many undiscovered places and stories. What else awaits us here?
