Opening event of the "Triennale der Moderne"
The "Trienniale der Moderne" is a joint event series of the cities of Weimar, Dessau and Berlin with their World Heritage Sites from the era of emerging modernism Modern. In 2019 it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the famous German design school Bauhaus.
The Triennial format takes place every three years and on three consecutive weekends in the three twin cities, but also sees itself as a prelude to an expanded network of architectural modernism and aims to win over other UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the 20th century for participation in the longer term.
All lectures and guided tours are basically held in German, but also offers visitors and interested parties the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of this exciting epoch through numerous events and guided tours.
The 2019 Triennial will be opened on Thursday, 26 September 2019 at Weimar, where it was founded. In Dessau, the second location, the Bauhaus theme and its direct legacy will be further deepened before the focus shifts to Berlin, a city rich in architectural culture and facets.
The event will begin with a scientific symposium on the life and work of some of the leading architects and pioneers. On the following three days Friday to Sunday, visitors can expect a wide-ranging programme of events, tours, exhibitions and visits.
