From the 12th to the 14th of September the fifth edition of the Webfest Berlin Festival takes place in Osthafen. A total of 64 short format webseries will be presented in three categories. 250 creatives from Australia, Canada, Brazil, Germany, France and Russia are expected.
A jury consisting of German and international players in the media industry will decide on the winner series in the Official Selection, Returning Series Selection and Berlin Selection. New this year are two film events for series fans who join the conference program in the evening.
As part of the competition, several world and German premieres will be presented across all genres. In addition, the Webfest Berlin also offers top-class networking and discussion rounds on short-form series on an international level, presentations on trends and market analyzes, and hands-on workshops. Topics include branded series and the latest platforms, including screenwriting, storytelling and production music concepts. In 2019 a variety of success strategies for digital series in short format will be discussed.
A key focus in 2019 is on empowering women in the industry. Webfest Berlin has therefore created a program with balanced gender distribution. With this year's partners Powerful Ladies, Women in Film and Television Germany (WIFT) and Women's Film Network Berlin, exchange formats are offered, in which seasoned representatives of the media industry provide information on their concrete experiences in the industry.
