Symposium on EU Environmental Noise Mapping
The UBA is organizing a public forum on national calculation methods of the EU Environmental Noise Directive on 18.9.2019 in Berlin. According to the EU Environmental Noise Directive, it is intended to reduce environmental noise and thus prevent an increase in noise in hitherto quiet areas. For this purpose, the load on major roads, main railway lines and major airports as well as in metropolitan areas should be recorded throughout Europe.
On the basis of the noise maps then the planning and as far as possible realization of mitigation measures takes place. An important objective of the EU Environmental Noise Directive is to record and evaluate noise pollution according to uniform criteria. In order to facilitate comparability of the results in Europe, the European Commission published new calculation methods (CNOSSOS-EU) in 2015. These have subsequently been transposed into German law and have been applicable in Germany since December 31, 2018. Within the framework of a public forum, the new calculation methods will be presented and aspects of quality assurance will be discussed.
The symposium addresses representatives from politics, science and application as well as environmental and municipal umbrella organizations.
