Bauhaus and Photography
To mark the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus, this exhibition establishes a dialogue between avant-garde photography from around 1930 and contemporary art.
The historical reference point is provided by a reconstruction of László Moholy-Nagy’s 1929 presentation on the history of photography, which was conceived for the Deutscher Werkbund’s international Film and Photo exhibition, which ended in Berlin with a showcase of the artist’s own works.
In addition, around 200 works by artists such as Florence Henri, Erich Consemüller, Thomas Ruff, Dominique Teufen, Vivianne Sassen, Kris Scholz, Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs, Antje Hanebeck and Douglas Gordon will be on display.
A special exhibition by the Kunstbibliothek – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin in cooperation with the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf and the Kunsthalle Darmstadt, supported by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, the Hessen State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
