Conference: "Tourism and sustainable management - how does it work together?"
The Environmental Association for Ecological Tourism, in cooperation with the Sustainable Tourism Working Group, invites you to critically reflect on previous activities and developments.
In addition, solutions for a comprehensive, economically viable and sustainable tourism are to be presented. The main invitees are representatives from nature conservation and environmental protection, the tourism industry, science and politics. Due to the limited capacities, participation is only possible after prior registration and confirmation by the organiser. On the path taken by Germany towards a sustainable society, it is essential to continuously identify existing problems and corresponding fields of action and to search for suitable solutions for sustainable tourism. After the kick-off event in February 2018 on the sustainability dimension "ecologically compatible" on the topic "Demands and usage pressure due to tourism-related sports and leisure activities", we now want to shed light on the sustainability dimension "economically sensible and productive" and discuss how well regions and companies that are committed to sustainable management are currently positioned, including learning more about the concrete (further) development of award-winning or certified companies and regions since the time of their award: What has it achieved? Have these awards been or are they an incentive for a continuous development towards sustainability? When considering destinations, the focus is also on the current balance of the integration and anchoring of tourism in the regional economy.
Which success factors ensure the greatest possible contribution of a sustainable tourism industry to regional development? What are the success factors to date, what obstacles stand in the way of further sustainable tourism development? Do we need more social acceptance, more demand, more support from associations and politicians, etc.?
