Symposium: Stolen Judaica - The Exploration of its Provenance in Israel and Germany
With the Stiftung Neue Synagoge Berlin - Centrum Judaicum, the Jewish Museum Berlin invites to a two-day international symposium on Stolen Judaica - Researching its Provenance in Israel and Germany. For the first time, lectures, workshops and an evening event will focus exclusively on research into the origin of Jewish ceremonial objects (Judaica) in Germany and Israel.
The symposium aims to give an overview of methodological approaches and experiences with provenance research in the field of Judaica and thereby create a starting point for the further development of this branch of research. Referent*innen from Israel and Germany will report in a practical manner about their handling of Judaica finds. The symposium is aimed in particular at smaller regional museums and collections with corresponding objects in their holdings. Colleagues should be encouraged to explore the provenance of their Judaica objects.
