paper positions 2018
The paper positions berlin will take place for the second time this spring and is moving into the impressive atrium of the former Telegraph Office in Jägerstraße in Berlin-Mitte. As last year, the fair will be held in 2018 in parallel with the gallery weekend in Berlin.
From 26-29 April 2018, more than 40 selected international galleries showcase their most important positions in contemporary and modern art with a focus on the material paper. Drawings, collages, silhouettes, texts, photographs, artist's books and objects can be seen in an open exhibition format. By dispensing with classical booths, the fair emphasises the character of a large group exhibition. The spatial design offers the visitors in a special way both an open overview and the opportunity to perceive individual works of art in mutual dialogue. The approximately 1,000 square meter hall in the Deutsche Telekom representative office provides paper positions berlin with ideal conditions for the expanded implementation of its trade fair concept.
Important building in the postal and industrial history of Berlin as a new event location
At the end of the 19th century, more than 300 telegraphs were in the hall, architecturally reminiscent of the Venetian Renaissance, with which the building complex was extended in 1878 as part of the unification of post and telegraphy to form the Imperial Main Telegraph Office.Even after the renovation, the original ceiling construction with its glass ceiling supported by cast-iron pillars has been preserved and gives the spacious room with bright daylight an airy and relaxed salon-like atmosphere.
The new trade fair location is located in the heart of historic Berlin, amidst the art spots Museum Island and Gendarmenmarkt as well as the galleries and art collections not far from the Friedrichswerder Church built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
