12 reasons for planning an event in Berlin in 2019
Over 140,000 hotel beds, more than 360 fancy locations and over 2,700 flights per week to Berlin from more than 180 cities– these are some of the many great reasons to plan an event in the capital in 2019. And there is much more! We have put together 12 advantages for your next event in Berlin. Regardless of whether it's a meeting, incentive, congress or convention – the New Year awaits you with special ideas and the best support for your next event in the city of congresses.
1 Through thick and thin: the right service partner
With the right service partner at your side, event planning and organisation is not only much more fun, but it is also the best way to ensure success. Whether technology, equipment or catering, Berlin's official partner network, visitBerlin Convention Partner e.V. offers event organisers support and know-how in all areas for planning a successful event.
Tip: In the Berlin Meeting Guide you will find a large selection of event service providers with detailed information and the possibility to make direct enquiries!
2 A new location: “more Berlin” at hub27
What was a mere vision two years ago will become a reality in 2019: a multifunctional event location with around 15,000 square metres of event space, directly beneath the Funkturm Berlin. As of April next year, hub27 will provide the capital with a (further) state-of-the-art location for major events, conventions and congresses with an event hall for up to 9,500 people, direct access to Messe Berlin and a roof terrace for 200 guests.
3 Only in Berlin: special locations
Speaking of locations: In 2019, the capital will not only captivate guests with its new locations, but particularly with its extraordinary range of possibilities. From meetings in museums and 1920s-style conventions to congresses in historical sports venues, in industrial monuments, on islands, by the water or in palaces – Berlin really does have it all.
4 It’s getting greener: Sustainable meetings in Berlin in 2019
Green meetings and sustainable event planning have long ceased to be a trend and instead are becoming a prerequisite for more and more organisers when choosing a congress destination. With the existence of the Sustainable Meetings Berlin platform, event planners have a reliable partner for the organisation of their environmentally conscious and sustainable conventions in 2019.
Tip: In the near future you will find Berlin's Sustainable Partners such as conference hotels, event locations, catering and technical service providers here.
5 More community involvement: MEET+CHANGE 2019
Holding sustainable meetings in Berlin does not only mean being environmentally-friendly and green. With MEET+CHANGE, the Berlin Convention Office goes one step further and combines professional event planning with community involvement. How? By event organisers benefiting from the rooms and individual strengths of a social or cultural institution in Berlin for their event and contributing something that is urgently needed here – therefore literally holding sustainable meetings.
6 Events for all: Accessible Berlin
Accessible conventions, meetings, congresses and events will continue to gain in importance and presence in the coming year. In the context of the inclusion of participants with physical or mental disabilities, the meeting metropolis of Berlin is forging ahead in an exemplary manner. With the accessBerlin app, certified, wheelchair-accessible hotels and locations, the annual awarding of the Berlin Inclusion Award and the Accessible City round table discussion group, the capital is well on its way to becoming “accessible Berlin”.
Tip: read more about accessibility in the event industry here.
7 Mobile into the New Year: Apps for organisers and participants
We all know it: smart apps make life easier. And fortunately the capital has a lot to offer in this respect. In addition to the accessBerlin app mentioned above, which facilitates access to Berlin's attractions and sights for those with disabilities, the Going Local Berlin app provides insider knowledge on Berlin neighbourhoods – with restaurant tips for a business lunch or ideas for a local site event. Event organisers and guests can find historical information and tour suggestions for the meeting metropolis via the ABOUT BERLIN app.
Tip: All apps are free of charge and serve as a practical orientation aid for event participants!
8 Adventure Berlin: special incentives in the urban jungle
Let's be honest: A simple 'team meeting' is a thing of the past. The next company outing would be best planned in Berlin, as this is where team building transforms into an exciting experience at unusual incentive events. From joint raft building and graffiti workshops to Trabant safaris – in the capital you will experience a great adventure once more in 2019.
9 Smart planning with an overview: 2019 congress calendar
For many event organisers and participants, the Berlin 2019 convention and congress calendar is an extra incentive to come to the capital. That's because the high density of events attracts international guests to Berlin on several occasions. In addition, various conventions and congresses forge numerous links, such as at the Berlin Science Week 2018, where events from various scientific and social fields were held in parallel over a week, facilitating the exchange of ideas.
10 At home in Berlin: Convention and congress hotels
More than 143,272 hotel beds across all categories will be available to convention and congress guests in the capital once more in 2019, meaning that guests from all over the world will feel at home in Berlin even at major events and with the high number of events in the Berlin event calendar.
Tip: In our Meeting Guide Berlin, you can select the appropriate convention hotel for your next event.
11 Travel with ease: Transport advantages in and to Berlin
Anyone planning an event with international participants in 2019 will be well connected in the capital – with some 2,775 flights per week from 188 cities. And in Berlin itself, participants and event planners can also travel flexibly and inexpensively by public transport: the journey from the two Berlin airports to the city centre only takes about half an hour. With the Berlin WelcomeCard or low-cost rail offers to Berlin, event organisers and visitors can benefit from good value for money and numerous advantages in the 2019 congress year.
