Pleasurable experiences: new ideas for business lunches in Berlin
Looking for a restaurant to take your colleagues, customers, or business partners out for lunch? Berlin offers a variety of new restaurants that will surprise and delight you and your guests with innovative, summery, traditional, elegant, and extraordinary delights. So whether you want to dine just the two of you or with a group of 20 people, we have some good ideas for great business lunch restaurants!
Easy-going holiday atmosphere
Linguine with lobster sauce, poke (a Hawaiian fish salad with spring onions, cucumber, and sesame), fish and chips, or a hearty fish stew are just some of the dishes on offer at Seaside. The remembrance of holidays past is exactly why Angus, a textile designer from Australia, wants to take his guests to lunch there.
The movers and shakers of the fashion industry make their way around the world and regularly stop in Berlin, which is why it’s so important to show them the latest that Berlin has to offer. But seafood in Berlin? Isn’t that almost unheard of?
“The guests I take out are hip trendsetters,” says Angus, who has been living in the capital for five years and is inspired by its multi-cultural atmosphere. “I want to show them that Berlin not only has lots of creative culinary ideas, but also really knows how to change it up and can even be properly summery.”
The new restaurant Seaside on Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt offers a successful blend of fish market atmosphere and a laid-back vibe, California style.
The light meals feature fresh fish and the seaside atmosphere is a perfect way to let loose after a long day doing business, especially with a summery lunch when the mercury soars. Looks like work, but feels like a holiday!

History as the main course
Uta, age 32, however, wants to go traditional. For their very first lunch in Berlin, the young PR assistant of a furniture manufacturer decided to treat her twelve guests to a place with a lot of history: the Zollpackhof.
It’s a great spot to sit in the shade and relax on hot days, watching the river flow by, enjoying the views of the Chancellor’s Office, and tucking into some good old-fashioned Bavarian specialities. Uta likes to share interesting bits of history with her guests, such as how Elector Friedrich Wilhelm built this customs house, how the first restaurant with outdoor dining was opened by Menard, a Huguenot, how the site fell into disrepair under the Communist regime, the fall of the Wall, reunification, and the recently completed renovation of this historic restaurant destination. And while guests tuck into their hearty lunches with typical German and Austrian specialities, they also get to experience an exciting history lesson.

Techno meets fresh cuisine
Berlin stands for inspiration and ideas, so a lunch restaurant for Tobias must feature precisely these qualities. The 28-year-old marketing manager of a software developing firm is responsible for visitors who come to check out the start-up while in Berlin for a trade fair.
After a welcome, the guests are asked to download the Data Kitchen app. They use their smartphones to order lunch including drink and dessert, pay in advance, and then all they have to do is head to the digital restaurant at the appointed time and pull the lunch from the glass box in the food wall. The idea came from well-known Berlin restaurateur Heinz Gindullis, who developed the concept in collaboration with SAP.
But this is not your ordinary workplace canteen. Data Kitchen is cosily furnished and the mostly vegetarian dishes are freshly prepared on site. Because you order and pay in advance, there’s no wait and you can use your lunch break efficiently to enjoy your meal, to network, or talk about this restaurant concept of the future.

Big city flair for a special lunch
International, chic, and a bit luxurious: that’s what Gil wants when she selects a lunch restaurant for her guests. The Berlin PR and event manager knows the scene and she opts to take her guests to Cecconi’s. This refined Italian restaurant opened its first German location at SOHO HOUSE Berlin, but you don’t have to a be a guest at the 5-star hotel to dine there.
Where the Central Committee of the East German Communist Party once met, guests now sit on opulent red leather benches at white-covered tables and enjoy a delicious Italian lunch with wild mushroom soup, cherry tomatoes with avocado and mozzarella, and a pizza with smoked aubergine, asparagus, Parmigiano and guanciale, for example.
